Teens arrested over attack on man in wheelchair

A man was reportedly knocked out of his wheelchair, kicked and spat on, police said

Three teenage boys aged 14 and 15 have been arrested after a man was reportedly knocked out of a wheelchair, spat on, kicked and robbed of his bank card, police have said.

The alleged assault happened in Leed Street in Sandown, Isle of Wight, on 19 February.

The 55-year-old man was treated in hospital for injuries to his head and arms, detectives added.

The teenagers, from Sandown and Ryde, have been released from custody while inquiries continue.

They include two boys aged 14 and 15 from Sandown who were arrested on suspicion of robbery.

A 14-year-old boy from Ryde was arrested on suspicion of robbery and possession of an offensive weapon.

Police have appealed for witnesses, information or footage of the alleged incident that took place last Thursday at about 12:45 GMT in Sandown.
