Collie rescued after 100ft fall down island cliffs
HM CoastguardA pet dog was rescued after falling about 100ft (30m) down cliffs in Shetland.
The Collie, called Whisp, fell at the cliffs near Heylor in the north mainland on Thursday and was on a ledge.
Coastguards mounted a rescue operation at about 11:00.
They used rope equipment, and managed to lift the two-year-old dog back to safety.
HM CoastguardWhisp was on a rocky ledge, which ruled out safe access from below on the sea side of the cliffs.
He was successfully brought back to the top of the cliff by rope by about 14:00.
Coastguards said Whisp was "safe and well" and "remarkably unscathed", adding that "thankfully" it was a happy ending.
