Scooter travelling at 30mph on footpath seized

Police are holding a day of action in Grimsby on Friday as part of a wider crackdown on motorcycle-related crime and antisocial behaviour.

It follows a week-long exercise in Hull, as part of Operation Yellowfin, during which Humberside Police confiscated nine illegal scooters from the streets.

The force also seized an electric bike that was travelling at 30mph on a footpath on Beverley Road at about 15:00 BST on Thursday 21 August.

Insp Claire Jacobs, from the force's neighbourhood policing team, said the increased police presence was about "fostering responsible behaviour and creating long-term solutions".

One person was arrested and two stop and searches were also carried out, one of which resulted in Class A drugs being found and a summons to court issued.

"Every stop, every conversation and every intervention aims to make our communities safer," Insp Jacobs said.

The day of action in Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire, will see a drone, Operation Yokohama off-road motorbikes and police cars take to the streets from 13:00 BST.
