Plans to build three new padel courts at a business park in Leicestershire have been given the green light.

The application sought to add the trio of covered courts and 24 new car parking spaces at Barbrey Business Park in Bottesford.

It was approved by Melton Borough Council on Wednesday, with the proposal also including a reception area, coffee shop, small kitchen, accessible toilet and two changing and shower rooms.

Padel, a combination of tennis and squash, is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world, and is mainly played in doubles format in a space about the third of the size of a tennis court.

Planning documents said the site would be accessed via a new entrance, created off Orston Lane.

The new courts will be sited to the rear of existing storage units within the business park.
