Online driving licence and tax services expanded
BBCThe range of vehicle licencing and road tax services available online has been expanded for Isle of Man drivers.
The Department of Infrastructure's (DOI) online portal now allows people to change personal details, upgrading provisional driving licences to full, and request duplicate documents such as a vehicle registration certificate.
The changes also include the expansion of online road tax payments to all Manx registered vehicles.
The DOI said the digitisation of the services formed part of the government's Efficiencies and Change Programme, which aimed to make them simpler, faster and more cost effective.
That programme represents a broader move across the government to online services, which also includes the withdrawal of the MiCard system for social security benefits and pensions.
The transition has led the Isle of Man Post Office to move towards its sub-post office network becoming postal only as other services previously contracted to the branches become available online.
Other services due to be offered online by the DOI later in 2026 include the registration, transfer of ownership and number plates, and applications to export, scrap or "write off" a vehicle.
Nicola Hodson, of the highways division, said "customer convenience and service" was "really important" to the department.
"By expanding our online services," she said, "it is now easier than ever to manage your vehicle and driving documentation at home."
She added that the department planned release a series of tutorial videos on how to use the service.
The DOI said it wanted "constructive feedback" on the new services offered.
