Driver seriously hurt after being hit by own van

A man has been seriously injured after his stationary van rolled forward and hit him.

Police said officers had been called to Blackmoorfoot Road, Huddersfield, just after 12:00 GMT.

The van had hit the driver, who was stood in the road in front of it, before rolling downhill hitting other cars and coming to a rest.

West Yorkshire Police said the driver, believed to be in his 50s, had been taken to hospital for treatment, but said his injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

A force spokesperson added that a road closure had been put in place on Blackmoorfoot Road at the junciton with Park Road West for "investigation and recovery work".
