Man arrested after leaving scene of A1 crash on foot

A 39-year-old man has been arrested after he left the scene of a crash on the A1 near Torness in East Lothian.

The crash, involving a black Peugeot 207 and a Land Rover Discovery, happened at about 20:50 on Friday.

Police said the Peugeot driver left on foot before emergency services arrived. He was later traced near Cocksburnpath.

A 38-year-old woman, who was driving the Land Rover, was taken to hospital. Her condition is not known.

Police have appealed for anyone who saw the crash, or either of the vehicles beforehand, to come forward.
