GB Energy's base in Aberdeen unveiled as Marischal Square
Aberdeen City CouncilThe headquarters of Great British Energy (GBE) in Aberdeen will be in the Marischal Square building, it has been announced.
The publicly-owned body, set up by the UK government, has been tasked with accelerating the transition to green energy.
It was revealed in 2024 that Aberdeen would be the base.
Speaking after the Marischal Square announcement on Thursday, GBE's chief executive Dan McGrail said the energy company would "draw on the abundant local talent" in the sector.
GBE will not supply power to homes, but will help fund new and existing clean technology, as well as small and medium-sized renewable energy projects.
It aims to support at least 10,000 jobs over the next five years, with a focus on areas historically dependent on oil and gas.
However, there have been concerns that the rate of job creation may struggle to keep pace with the number of roles being lost in fossil fuel sectors.
Recruitment is said to be ongoing.

McGrail said: "Aberdeen is the perfect location for Britain's publicly owned energy company.
"Thousands of engineers, innovators, and technicians call Aberdeen home.
"It is a world-leading energy hub and has been crucial to our energy security for decades and I am delighted Marischal Square will be the location of our permanent headquarters."
Creating a headquarters in Aberdeen was a key commitment by Labour during the 2024 general election campaign.
City council co-leader, Councillor Ian Yuill, said Aberdeen was at the forefront of the transition in the energy sector.
