Tour of Britain races through deer park

Riders taking part in the Tour of Britain have raced through picturesque villages and a large deer park during the third leg of the competition.

On Thursday, the race started in Milton Keynes and finished in Ampthill, Bedfordshire.

Along the way, cyclists sped through villages such as Woburn, Toddington and Barton-le-Clay.

Adam Zerny, leader of Central Bedfordshire Council, said: "It's been fantastic to welcome the Tour of Britain to Central Bedfordshire; a great opportunity to showcase our towns, villages, parks and beautiful countryside."

The council said it hoped the event had inspired children and adults to discover cycling.

Pupils from Arnold Academy cheered as the peloton shot pass their school.

Headteacher Pete Roberts said: "What a lovely experience for our pupils and staff, who loved the opportunity to make a tunnel of noise for the riders!"
