Man seriously hurt in gang attack on canal boat

A 45-year-old man suffered serious injuries when he was attacked by a gang on a canal boat.

West Yorkshire Police said the incident happened on a boat moored off Lock Lane in Castleford, Wakefield, shortly before 20:00 GMT on Friday.

Officers said "three to four suspects" smashed windows on the boat before attacking the victim, with one of them fleeing the scene on a motorbike.

The man suffered a broken leg and other injuries in the assault.
