Town centre venue shut after 'kitchen incident'

A bar and restaurant in Northampton town centre is closed after an "unexpected kitchen incident".

Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to Bridge 26, on Bridge Street, at about 19:40 BST on Friday.

The service said a fire in the venue's kitchen, believed to have started accidently, was extinguished using hose reel jets by 22:30.

In a notice on its website, Bridge 26 said it was "working swiftly to restore and rebuild our kitchen" and "doing everything possible to reopen as quickly as possible".
