Parish council objects to retirement home plans
Corstorphine & WrightA parish council has objected to plans for a new retirement home in a village in Leicestershire.
Plans have been announced to create a four-storey property with 53 self-contained flats in Hinckley Road, Leicester Forest East.
Leicester Forest East Parish Council said the plans were "totally out of keeping with the street scene" due to the height of surrounding buildings.
However, the developers stated in planning documents that the home would have a flat roof which would "minimise the overall height of the building in its immediate context".
The parish council said the building should be no more than 2.5 storeys and has written to Blaby District Council objecting to the plans, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
The home, which is planned to be built on an unused greenfield site, would have a mix of 16 two-bedroom apartments and 37 one-bedroom apartments.
Facilities would also include a communal residents' lounge, a mobility scooter store and a communal garden.
