Green waste site brings in winter opening times
BBCThe opening hours for Guernsey's green waste site have moved to its winter schedule, the States has said.
The Household Green Waste site at Mont Cuet will be open for three days a week rather than six - on weekends and Mondays between 10:00 to 16:00 GMT until 30 March.
The site accepts all garden clippings and green waste including grass, leaves, branches and hedge trimmings, but anything treated with herbicides and pesticides is not accepted.
Douglas Button, from Guernsey Waste, said the winter hours had been introduced a bit later than usual after a review of site usage.
Mr Button said: "Last year we saw continued high demand for around two weeks after the move to winter hours, so we decided to extend the summer schedule a little longer this season.
"We review traffic volumes at the end of each season and make adjustments where needed to ensure we're providing the best possible service for islanders."
The service said islanders should exclude plant pots, stones, rocks, soil and noxious weeds such as ragwort from their waste.
It added all other household waste and recycling should be taken to the Household Waste and Recycling Centre at Longue Hougue.
