A city's official e-bike and e-scooter rental scheme has seen its busiest year to date, according to the operator Voi.

The company said its 2025 figures showed riders in Oxford made 1.5 million trips in 2025, compared to 1.2 million in 2024.

The city scheme averaged 70,000 trips per month with a peak of 164,000 trips in October 2025.

Oxfordshire County Council's member for transport management, Andrew Gant, said: "I am delighted with the extremely positive uptake of the public hire e-scooters in Oxford since the trial launched in 2021.

"E-scooters are great for affordable and easy short journeys and complement other travel choices like buses for wider joined-up travel options.

"As a part of the wider active travel offering, they are helping to replace a significant proportion of single-use private car trips, supporting our zero-carbon aims, and helping tackle congestion and air quality issues."

Voi's UK head of public policy, Jim Hubbard, said: "Reaching four million rides is a fantastic milestone for the city, and we hope and expect to reach the next four million even quicker."
