Man, 93, dies after being hit by car

A 93-year-old pedestrian has died after he was hit by a car in Rathfriland, County Down.

Patrick Joseph Brady died at the scene of the collision which happened on the Newry Road at about 22:45 GMT on Saturday.

Mr Brady, who was known as Patsy, was from the Barnmeen area.

Police said they do not believe the driver, who was in a silver Toyota Avensis, has sustained any serious injuries.

The road was closed overnight near its junctions with Longstone Hill and Barnmeen Road but it has since re-opened.
