Shop staff threatened by weapon-wielding robbers

Staff at a pawnbrokers were left badly shaken after being threatened by men armed with a machete and sledgehammer during a robbery, police have said.

The incident happened at Cash Converters at Avenue Retail Park, on Weaverthorpe Road in Bradford, shortly before 17:00 GMT.

West Yorkshire Police said two men wearing balaclavas threatened workers at the shop and smashed display cabinets, before stealing jewellery and a till containing cash.

The men ran off in the direction of Tong Street and armed officers were sent to the scene, but the suspects were not found.

No-one was injured during the incident.
