Motorcyclist suffers serious injuries in crash

A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries in a crash with a van in Rutland.

Police were called to Stamford Road, near Empingham, at 17:54 GMT on Friday following a crash involving a black Suzuki motorcycle and white van.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 50s, was taken to hospital where he remains with serious injuries, according to Leicestershire Police.

A 54-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and has since been released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Detectives are continuing to "establish the full circumstances" of the crash and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
