Members of the public have been urged to avoid the Torbay seafront in Devon after "extensive flooding".

The flooding is prominent in the Meadfoot, Livermead and Torquay areas, with Torbay Road currently closed.

Highways staff are hoping to reopen it once the flooding has subsided by about 15:00 GMT, but the council said it depended on what happened with the weather.

It apologised for any inconvenience, but said the closure was for the safety of local residents.

The road was originally closed due to the high winds, waves overtopping and the yellow weather warning.
