Fire crews collect Christmas trees for charity
BBCOff duty fire crews in Guernsey are volunteering to collect old Christmas trees to raise money for charity.
Guernsey Fire and Rescue Service members are collecting the trees in return for a donation to the Fire Fighters Charity.
The service said: "Last year's collection was our most successful yet, and we need your help to make this year's even bigger."
It said firefighters would be using their own vehicles to carry out collections while off duty between 29 December and 9 January.
Firefighter Charlie Roger said last year "we managed to double our previous years and we raised just shy of £5000 so that was with 450 trees over about six days which was awesome."
He added the charity didn't just "support firefighters but anyone working in a fire service role so that could be control, operators, not just them, their families, their partners, their dependents".
"It's really just an overall help for firefighters so that could physical, mental wellbeing, rehabilitation, workshops to help deal with PTSD," he said.
Members of the public can book their Christmas tree collection via the service's social media pages.
