The move aims to bring more people into the town centre

Free parking is being offered to shoppers visiting local towns in the run up to Christmas.

Parking at Wednesfield's four car parks will be free all day from Saturday up to and including 23 December between 08:00 and 18:00 GMT, according to the City Of Wolverhampton Council.

Free parking is also being made available at council car parks in other areas, including Bilston and Tettenhall, while free weekend city centre parking at selected sites in Wolverhampton also begins on 6 December.

Wolverhampton councillor Qaiser Azeem said it was a great way to entice more people to the town to support local business.

No pay and display ticket or RingGo parking sessions will be required at the following car parks:

  • Woodhouse Fold - Steph Clark car park A
  • Woodhouse Fold - Battle of Wodensfield car park B
  • Woodhouse Fold - William 'Harry' Busby car park C
  • Alfred Squire Road car park.

Free weekend parking in council sites in Wolverhampton city centre, and from 15:00 on weekdays, starts from Saturday until 23 December.
