New leisure centre project 'going swimmingly'
Staffordshire Moorlands District CouncilThe major redevelopment of a leisure centre is progressing well and on track for completion early next year, a local authority has said.
The main structure was now in place and the new pool and learner pool areas were nearing completion at the Brough Park site in Leek, Staffordshire, the council said, adding the project was "going swimmingly".
The £17m project will modernise the health and wellbeing centre, partly funded by government regeneration funding.
"The building working is making good progress - our new centre is really taking shape now," said councillor Matt Swindlehurst.
Staffordshire Moorlands District CouncilHe promised "first-class" amenities at the new leisure facility, which would provide opportunities for people to get active and better support health and wellbeing in the town.
"I know it will be a much-valued and well-used community asset for decades to come," Swindlehurst added.
