Police said they were called to reports of three XL Bully type dogs running loose

Police have detained three XL Bully type dogs that were running loose in Derby.

The Littleover, Mickleover and Sunnyhill safer neighbourhood policing team said officers were called on Friday afternoon to reports of three loose dogs on Uttoxeter New Road.

The team said officers and the council dog unit responded and the dogs were safely detained.

One of the dogs was a female and appeared to have given birth recently, officers said, adding there were concerns for the puppies.

Work to trace where the dogs came from is under way and the force has appealed for information.
