Work is taking place to fix a number of leaks at a shopping centre in Derby.

Buckets and wet floor signs recently appeared near the East Street entrance of the Derbion shopping centre following a period of "wet and unpredictable" weather.

Derbion said a number of short-term measures had been put in place while "ongoing work is under way to resolve the issues".

The East Street entrance has experienced higher footfall due to the Albion Street entrance being closed, and officials at Derbion have apologised for any inconvenience caused by the repair works.

A Derbion spokesperson said: "Following the recent wet and unpredictable weather, we are experiencing some leaks near the East Street entrance to the centre.

"Our priority is ensuring that Derbion remains a safe and enjoyable place for both shoppers and retailers, and we have put a number of short-term measures in place while ongoing work is under way to resolve the issues.

"The centre remains open as normal, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused by the ongoing repair works."

A grey smoke screen, used in the event of a fire, has also partially fallen from the ceiling near the East Street entrance.

Derbion said the screen is "not a safety concern" and told the BBC it is "secure".

The screen is awaiting a replacement part before it goes back into place, a spokesperson said.
