A 14-year-old girl has been found "safe and well" after having gone missing in Rotherham at the weekend, police have confirmed.

The teenager disappeared after last being spotted on CCTV in the Bridgegate area of the town at about 19:10 BST on Sunday.

A force spokesperson said on Tuesday that she had been found "following appeals for information posted in the past couple of days".

A 60-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman who had been arrested by police investigating the girl's disappearance on suspicion of abduction remained in custody, they added.

"Thank you to everyone who shared our appeals - your support is always appreciated," the police spokesperson said.
