Man appears in court following serious assault

A man has been charged in connection with a serious assault.

Tyler Rigby, 21, of Odd Down in Bath, appeared at Bristol Magistrates' Court on Tuesday charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, battery, affray, possession of a bladed article and dangerous driving.

Avon and Somerset Police were called to High Street, Midsomer Norton, at about 02:40 BST on Saturday after a man was stabbed. He remains in hospital in a stable condition, police said.

Rigby is due to appear at Bristol Crown Court on 19 June.

A teenager also arrested on suspicion of affray and wounding with intent has been released on conditional bail, police said.

The force added that the victim had been left "distressed" by the incident and an increased police presence would be seen in the area.
