People across the West enjoyed a burst of spring sunshine this week.

There was also a spring in the step of two new pygmy goats - Petal and Poppy - born recently at Longleat Safari Park near Warminster.

Meanwhile, keepers at Bristol Zoo Project were mourning the death of Jock, one of their gorillas.

Happy surprise: Two sisters who believed they were fraternal twins have discovered they were in fact identical - after one of them was diagnosed with leukaemia at the age of 23.

Sleep out: Fifty people in Swindon came together to raise £5,000 in a sleep out for homelessness charity Threshold.

They were given the option to shelter indoors due to the intermittent rain, but everyone opted to spend the night outside, finding shelter in the bike sheds or under canopies.

Sunshine, what sunshine? For the first time in weeks, the county experienced prolonged periods of sunshine and blue skies, which helped to illuminate Salisbury Cathedral.

Integration lead Helena Robinson was one of those present at the hub's opening; it is the first of four set to open in the town by the end of the year.

Racecourse ready: As Cheltenham Festival looms, Harry Redknapp is looking forward to Gold Cup Day with The Jukebox Man, who he keeps at Ben Pauling Stables in Naunton.

The former Tottenham Hotspur manager cheered on his eight-year-old gelding as he won the Ladbrokes King George VI Chase at Kempton Park on Boxing Day, and he has high hopes for 13 March.
