Radio 1 visits Sunderland ahead of Big Weekend
BBCRadio 1's Breakfast Show was broadcast live from Sunderland earlier ahead of the Big Weekend.
The city will host the music festival for the first time since 2005 from 22 to 24 May at Herrington Park.
Host Greg James said "early indications tell me that this is going to be an amazing Big Weekend in an amazing city," after finding a pub that sold £2 pints and being given pink slices.
In a temporary radio studio in the middle of Keel Square, James gave listeners the opportunity to win free tickets, some of which were eventually found opposite the Sunderland Empire.
"I've said this before, I'm happy wherever I end up really and even though it's just been a few hours I'm here, I'm happy, I'm a Mackem," James told listeners.
"I'm very easily bought."

After arriving in the city via a Grand Central train on Thursday night, James and the rest of the Breakfast Show team went for a curry at Spice Empire because of recommendations from listeners.
"We went to Spice Empire, other restaurants are available, but this one, my god, was fantastic," he said.
"What a recommendation."
Big Weekend, BBC Radio 1's flagship event, is held in a different location each year.
When Sunderland last hosted the Big Weekend, the line-up included Gwen Stefani, Foo Fighters and The Black Eyed Peas.
This year's line up is yet to be announced.
