Comedian brings show to hometown in honour of mum
HandoutA comedian is raising funds for a hospice in Warwickshire in honour of her mum who died from breast cancer.
Kayleigh Jones will be bringing her show "I Fed My Dad To a Pelican" to her hometown of Warwick in aid of The Myton Hospices, which cared for her mum Anne following her diagnosis in 2020.
All profits from the show, which is about Jones' seven-year journey to find her biological father, will go to the hospices.
Jones said: "Myton gave mum a good death. They cared for her so compassionately and supported us as a family. So, performing in her hometown while raising money means so much."
Tickets for the show are available for Friday 8 May at Bridge House Theatre.
Jones said her mum was cared for by staff at Warwick Myton Hospice when the cancer spread to her bones three years after diagnosis.
In October 2024, Jones' mother died one month before her 60th birthday.
Jones said: "Everyone at Myton was incredible. We hadn't had the best experience in hospital, they couldn't manage mum's pain, but as soon as we arrived at Myton, we knew we were in good hands.
"Mum was very poorly when she first arrived and, as my husband and I live in Oxfordshire, they let us stay in the relatives' accommodation so we could be close to her.
"After the first ten days she began to improve, and that's when she really made the place her home."
