Woman dies after Peckham house fire

A woman has died following a house fire in Peckham.

London Fire Brigade said that control officers took 22 calls to the fire on Bath Close, with the first made at 22:00 GMT on 22 December.

Part of the second floor of the mid-terraced house was damaged by the fire.

Three women were treated at the scene by paramedics, with two taken to hospital. One of the women later died.

Fire crews from Peckham, New Cross, Greenwich, Brixton and surrounding fire stations brought the blaze under control by about 23:15 GMT.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
