Leisure centres and historic pool get new operator
Getty ImagesA town's historic swimming baths and other leisure centres are to be run by a new provider.
Everyone Active will take over the West Northamptonshire Council-owned Danes Camp, Lings Forum and the Grade II listed Art Deco Mounts Baths in Northampton.
The company, which already runs the leisure centres in Moulton and Daventry, will take on management of the centres from Trilogy Active in April.
Council deputy leader James Petter said: "This new service represents a major investment in the future of leisure provision in West Northants."
The authority invited bids to run the centre in January, but Trilogy Active chose not to apply.
It will continue to run the centres at Cripps, located in Northampton General Hospital, and Duston, which are not owned by West Northamptonshire Council.
Danes Camp also has a popular swimming pool, while the Lings Forum site includes a cinema.

The Mounts Baths in Northampton town centre was built in 1936 and is considered one of the best Art Deco swimming pools in the UK.
According to the council there will be a "comprehensive programme of modernisation and refurbishment" at the centre.
There will also be discounts for care-experienced young people, carers, armed forces, veterans, emergency services workers, students and those people over state pension age.
The centre will also provide support for vulnerable groups, the council said.
Towcester Centre for Leisure and Brackley Leisure Centre will continue to be operated by Legacy Leisure under an existing contract that runs until 2036.
