Arrests made as drugs smuggled in furniture seized
SWROCUArrests have been made in connection with the importation of hundreds of kilos of cannabis after an investigation by the South West Regional Organised Crime Unit (SWROCU).
Two consignments containing a total of 800kg (125.97 stone) of cannabis were hidden inside furniture addressed to a premises in Exeter, SWROCU said.
It added two men, one in his 40s and one in his 20s, had been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the importation of class B drugs and being concerned in the supply of class B drugs following the interception of a shipment of household furniture by UK Border Force.
Both men were released on bail while investigations continue.
SWROCU said the man in his 40s was arrested at his address in South East London on 3 March.
The man in his 20, from Blackburn, was arrested on Tuesday.
