A man has been seriously injured in a shooting in Sutton Coldfield, in the West Midlands.

Police said officers were called to an address on Mount View shortly before 23:30 GMT on Saturday after reports of shots being fired.

They found a man in his 20s with bullet wounds and he was taken to hospital.

West Midlands Police said it was believed to have been a targeted attack and appealed for anyone in the area who might have more information to come forward.

The force added that extra police would be on patrol in the area and officers were carrying out inquiries in a number of locations as they gathered evidence.
