Detective inspector sent colleague sexualised texts
BBCA former detective inspector has been barred from the police after using a work phone to hide a relationship with a colleague.
In 2023 Adam Walker gave a West Yorkshire Police-issued mobile to a female colleague who was his junior to conceal their relationship and told her to use an app that would hide their messages.
After moving to Nottinghamshire's force later that year, he travelled north to meet her while he was supposed to be on duty as well as sending "sexualised" messages to another new female colleague.
A misconduct hearing into Walker's behaviour at West Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire constabularies on Friday ruled his behaviour amounted to gross misconduct.
The panel at Nottinghamshire Police's Sherwood Lodge headquarters ruled he would have faced dismissal had he not resigned ahead of the hearing.
Walker was placed on the barred list meaning he can no longer work for any constabulary.
Temporary Nottinghamshire Chief Constable Steve Cooper said: "The behaviour exhibited by this former officer is completely unacceptable and has no place in any police force.
"I would like to thank the officers who came forward and called out this officer's appalling actions.
"The vast majority of police officers and staff maintain the highest possible professional standards which makes it even more important we address instances where individuals' behaviour has fallen short."
