Canalside development set to move forward
City of Wolverhampton CouncilThe sale of industrial land in Wolverhampton to make way for new housing could be approved next week.
The city council's cabinet is being asked to agree the sale of the Canalside South site, which includes land around the canal and railway and the former British Steel site in Horseley Fields.
Developer Wavensmere has been in talks with the council and Canal and River Trust about a scheme to build 524 homes.
A report to councillors said the sale amount had been agreed, but it has not been made public and will be discussed in private session.
More than a fifth of the homes built on the site will be classed as affordable and in shared ownership, the report said.
In total, 384 two and three-bedroom houses will be built, along with 140 one and two-bedroom apartments.
There is also an agreement to make the development sustainable, with air-source heat pumps and solar panels on the roofs.
