Four people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man found with a serious chest injury died.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary was called just before 23:30 GMT on Wednesday to reports of an altercation in Belmont Road in the Portswood area of Southampton.

Officers said the unknown man was pronounced dead at the scene after what they believe was an isolated incident.

Three men aged 22, 26 and 51 and a 52-year-old woman, all from Southampton, have been arrested and remain in police custody.

Investigating officer Det Ch Insp Rebekah Bartholomew said officers will remain in the area throughout the coming days.

The force has appealed for anyone with relevant information, CCTV or video footage to contact them.
