Dozens of firefighters continue to tackle a large blaze at a carpet storage unit on an industrial estate in Birmingham.

It broke out at the two-storey facility at Tyseley Industrial Estate on Steeleys Road, Tyseley, at about 19:15 GMT on Wednesday, with 13 fire engines sent to the scene, along with aerial platforms and specialist units.

Seven crews remained at the incident on Thursday morning, with West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) stating that good progress was being made.

Neighbouring residents have been told to keep windows and doors closed and motorists were advised to avoid the area, with partial road closures still in place.

In an update at 09:45 GMT, WMFS said crews were continuing work to fully extinguish the fire, with damage having created limited access to several areas of the building.

Eight fire engines and two hydraulic aerial platforms remained at the site, with National Grid also in attendance, a spokesperson added.

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed it was not called to the scene.
