Long delays after M6 overnight roadworks overrun

Delays of an hour have been reported following the closure of part of the M6 after overnight roadworks overran, National Highways said.

The northbound stretch in Staffordshire between junction 11 for Shareshill, north of Wolverhampton, and junction 12 for Gailey remained shut, it stated on Wednesday morning.

National Highways said the overrunning roadworks were due to issues with tarmac supply and broken down machinery.

There are about seven miles of congestion on the approach and drivers are asked to plan ahead.

The roadworks had been expected to finish by 0600 BST.
