The car left the road on Warren Hill and hit a tree, police said

Two people were seriously injured when the car they were travelling in left the road and hit a tree in Leicestershire.

Leicestershire Police said the crash, which involved one vehicle, happened on Warren Hill in Newtown Linford at 08:49 GMT on Sunday.

The driver and passenger of a grey Cupra Formentor both sustained serious injuries and remain in hospital, the force said.

Officers have appealed for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the car, which was thought to be travelling towards the junction with Swithland Road, to come forward.
