Man arrested after 11-hour police stand-off

A man has been arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill following an 11-hour stand-off at a block of flats.

Suffolk Police said officers were called to reports of a man making threats to harm himself and others in Yew Drive in Brandon, Suffolk, before 22:10 GMT on Wednesday.

On arrival, the force said the man also made threats towards officers.

Armed officers, trained negotiators, ambulance and fire services were called and police arrested a man before 09:00.

The suspect, aged in his 30s, was taken to the police investigation centre in Bury St Edmunds for questioning.

Officers said they would remain in the area to reassure residents and anyone with concerns was encouraged to speak to them.
