Experts say they are monitoring a dolphin which has become trapped in a lock on the River Medway in Kent.

Volunteers from British Divers Marine Life Rescue said the young common dolphin was in good condition, with no concern for its long-term welfare.

It is hoped it will be able to swim back out to sea when the gates at Allington Lock are opened at high water later on Monday.

It is feared trying to reach the dolphin in the water could cause it further distress.
