Three rescued from cliffs as light fades
HM Coastguard - BexhillThree people have been rescued from cliffs in Sussex after they got stuck part of the way down as daylight was fading.
Coastguards were called to the cliffs at Fairlight just before 17:00 GMT, when teams worked with a rope-rescue unit to reach the group.
The three stranded people were brought to safety, uninjured but cold, before it got dark, a spokesman said, adding: "The final person was brought back to the top of the cliff in the last of the remaining light."
Emergency teams provided blankets, jackets and water while the three were checked over.
Writing on Facebook, rescuers said there was a "safe and successful end" to what could have been a very different situation.
The spokesman said: "As the days are still short and temperatures drop quickly after sunset, it's well worth keeping an eye on the time, planning your route and giving yourself plenty of daylight to get back safely - and please, stay away from cliff edges."
