Investigation launched into fatal flat fire

A person has died following a blaze at a flat in Doncaster, the fire service has confirmed.

Firefighters were called to the property on Fieldside in Thorne just before midnight on Saturday and tackled the blaze until about 04:00 BST on Sunday.

Four other people were treated for the effects of breathing in smoke, a South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said.

An investigation had since been launched into the cause of the fire, they added.
