A coastal road is due to be shut for a week for resurfacing work.

The B5300 in Cumbria, which connects the seaside village of Allonby and Silloth, will be closed from Monday from the Edderside junction to Dubmill Point.

Cumberland Council said the road would be shut to vehicles from 07:30 GMT to 19:00, but access will be open to pedestrians and cyclists at all times. A diversion will be in place via Aspatria, on the A596.

Dubmill Point is a much-photographed spot in stormy weather, with the road there often becoming unpassable due debris from the high tides.

The council said the length of the closure would be weather dependent.
