Paul Hollywood appealed for witnesses to contact police after his brother was attacked in August

A man has been charged with assaulting the brother of Great British Bake Off judge Paul Hollywood.

Lee Hollywood, who is also a baker, was punched to the ground and kicked in the face and back while he was walking his dog at Links View playing fields in Leasowe, Wirral, on 8 August.

He was taken to hospital for treatment as his brother put out an appeal on social media for anyone with information to contact police.

Merseyside Police charged Samuel Copley, 33, of Kingham Close in Leasowe, with assault.

He has been bailed and is due to appear at Liverpool Magistrates' Court on 11 February.
