Farmland on village edge faces 250 homes plan
Pegasus Group/ Storey Property DevelopmentsUp to 250 new homes could be built on the edge of a village, under plans that could see farmland developed.
Storey Property Developments wants to turn 12.8 hectares (32 acres) of agricultural grassland on the north-west of Godstone, Surrey, into a neighbourhood with housing, green space and walking and cycling routes.
Almost half the properties on the greenfield site would be classed as affordable, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
Planning documents say the "high-quality" neighbourhood would fit in with Godstone and support its housing needs.
At this stage, the application is outline only, meaning the developer is asking Tandridge District Council (TDC) to agree to the principle of building on the land.
Finer details, like its layout and appearance, will be decided if councillors give it the green light.
Storey said good design would be central to it, adding: "Well-designed places create better communities and help make development acceptable."
The plans will be now be considered by TDC, where residents will have the chance to comment before a decision is made.
