Firefighters and police are investigating the cause of a grass fire that sent plumes of thick smoke across a town.

Poole residents were told to keep their windows and doors shut after the blaze off Alder Road at about 14:45 BST on Sunday.

About 75 firefighters in 15 fire engines were sent to the scene by Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS), along with colleagues from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.

DWFRS said it had scaled back the incident and that five crews were providing relief.
