Arrest after boy, 17, dies in car crash

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested after a teenager died in a single-vehicle crash, police have said.

Emergency services were called to Peartwater Road, between Nether Stowey and Spaxton in Somerset, shortly before 22:00 BST on Friday.

Avon and Somerset Police said one of the passengers, a 17-year-old boy, died at the scene. Three other passengers were assessed in hospital.

The driver, also aged 17, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, as well as driving while unfit due to alcohol or on drugs. He has since been released on conditional bail.
