Hull City are heading to Wembley after beating Millwall in the Championship play-off semi-final.

The Tigers will face Southampton in the final for a chance to join Coventry City and Ipswich Town in the Premier League next season.

The final is due to kick-off at 16:30 BST on Saturday 23 May.

However, the English Football League (EFL) has said there may be "changes to the fixture" due to ongoing disciplinary proceedings involving Southampton.

How much are the tickets?

Hull City have been allocated 35,984 tickets on the east side of Wembley Stadium for the clash, with supporters located in seats from the north stand round to the south stand.

For those looking for a good omen, it is the same side of the stadium where Tigers fans saw their side win the previous Championship play-off finals in 2008 and 2016.

The ticket prices by category are:

  • Category 1 - £105 adults, £78.75 young adults aged 17 to 21, and concessions for people aged two to 16 and over-65s priced at £52.50
  • Category 2 - £82 adults, £61.50 young adults aged 17 to 21, and concessions for people aged two to 16 and over-65s priced at £41
  • Category 3 Seating and Standing Area - £67 adults, £50.25 young adults aged 17 to 21, and concessions for people aged two to 16 and over-65s priced at £33.50

  • Category 5 Seating and Standing Area - £37 adults, £27.75 young adults aged 17 to 21, and concessions for people aged two to 16 and over-65s priced at £18.50

The club has confirmed a £3 booking fee will apply to all ticket purchases.

When do tickets go on sale?

The tickets are being sold in stages, with priority being given to current members.

Tickets will be available online to members from 08:00 BST on Friday 15 May until 07:00 on Sunday 17 May.

Stage One

Supporters will be able to purchase two tickets per membership with a maximum of six tickets per transaction, the club confirmed.

Members will also be able to buy tickets in person from the ticket office at the MKM Stadium, which will be open from 10:00 until 19:00 on 15 May and from 08:00 to 17:00 on 16 May.

Stage Two

The second phase is for supporters who have bought tickets during the 2025/26 season.

Tickets will be available online from 08:00 on Sunday 17 May until 07:00 on Monday 18 May. Fans will also be able to buy them from the MKM Stadium on Sunday 17 May from 08:00 until 17:00.

Supporters have been told they can purchase two tickets on their accounts.

The club said details of a further stage would be confirmed following the initial sales and subject to availability.

Hull City fans are being told to make sure their online ticketing account is fully set up in advance in order to be able to purchase tickets.

How to get there

Hull Trains said it was running an additional service to the capital on the day of the match, as well as providing extra capacity where possible.

The operator advised passengers to travel on Friday 22 May and return on Sunday 24 May to avoid the busiest services, if possible, as tickets for the Saturday were limited.

A timetable and more information is available here.

Hull City's Tiger Travel will be running coaches from the MKM Stadium at a cost of £70 per person.

Several coach operators are also running services, including Acklams Coaches and Coach Innovations, with picks up in Hull, Beverley and Goole.

Anyone travelling by car is advised to only use official stadium car parks and to book early.

Travel information for guests with access requirements can be found on Wembley Stadium's website.

'Spygate' controversy

Southampton's route to the final has been marred with controversy following allegations of the club spying on their semi-final opponents

Although Southampton have qualified for the Championship play-off final, there is uncertainty about whether they will be allowed to play.

The Saints' campaign has been marred with controversy following allegations of the club spying on their semi-final opponents Middlesbrough, which has resulted in them being charged by the EFL.

Southampton have not denied the charge.

The EFL confirmed an Independent Disciplinary Commission hearing would take place on or before Tuesday 19 May.

It added the outcome of the disciplinary proceedings may result in changes to the fixture and they have a number of contingency plans should they be required.

How did the teams get to Wembley?

Hull City made it to the final by beating Millwall 2-0 in the second leg at The Den, with Mo Belloumi and Joe Gelhardt coming off the bench to score the goals.

But rewind to May 2025 and Hull were staring down the barrel of relegation to League One.

Ruben Selles departed, and Sergej Jakirovic was brought in.

The rest, as they say, is history and they now have an opportunity to return to the Premier League for the first time since 2017.

Southampton head coach Tonda Eckert praised his side for "digging deep" in their play-off win over Middlesbrough.

Saints came from behind to win in dramatic fashion on the night, with Shea Charles finding the net with just four minutes of extra-time remaining.

It comes after Saints ended the season as one of the form sides in the division, going unbeaten in their final 19 league games to finish fourth.
