Pub laughs off 'voice activated' sticker prank
The Stone Roses BarPranksters have brought a smile to the faces pub staff after adding fake voice activated stickers to various machines around the watering hole, including the jukebox and hand dryers.
Owner Joel Bray said the labels had been popping up all over the Stone Roses Bar in York in recent days.
He said while the staff were finding the joke signs "hilarious" some of his customers had been struggling.
Appealing for the culprits to stop, the 22-year-old wrote on social media to say: "We've had someone shouting "play Oasis" at the jukebox for an hour already today."
Joel, who runs the bar with his parents Greg and Sharon, said the bar was popular with students in the city and suggested one of them may be responsible.
"Every day we are going around and finding them on different machines we have got," he said.
"The staff just think it's hilarious."
He said one of the stickers had also appeared on a phone charging machine in the King Street venue.
Stone Roses BarDespite the confusion for some customers, Joel said he was in the mood for forgiveness, admitting that if he found out who was responsible he would "probably shake their hand and buy them a pint".
"We get random things all the time, but I think this is up there with the best as funniest, but probably most annoying."
He admitted there was "nothing" they could do about the practical joke, adding: "We all think it's funny, but peeling them off is a bit of a pain."
