Police are reminding owners they have a responsibility to keep their pets under control after a sheep was killed in a suspected dog attack.

A dog is thought to have got into a field off Browns Road, Daventry, on 18 or 19 August, killing a pet sheep and leaving its lamb in distress.

Northamptonshire Police is investigating the attack, and has warned that dogs chasing livestock can legally be shot dead by farmers.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police on 101.
